Rules for the carriage of animals by road. How to transport an animal abroad Transporting wild animals on an airplane

06.08.2020 Treatment

Transporting dogs on an airplane is an expensive, troublesome and labor-intensive endeavor.

If you are going to travel with your dog on an airplane, you must take into account that the norms for transporting animals are somewhat different in different airlines. Therefore, the exact information should be checked with the specific carrier.

But there are conditions common to all. Some of them are established by Order of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation No. 82, others are dictated by security measures:

  • no more than 5 animals are allowed on the plane at a time;
  • the dog is notified of the carriage at least 36 hours before departure;
  • for transportation receive the appropriate permission from the airline;
  • the dog must be accompanied by a capable person over 18 years old;
  • when booking a ticket, indicate the breed, height, weight (with and without container), cage dimensions;
  • the animal undergoes a final examination by a veterinarian at the airport;
  • the individual is microchipped and vaccinated against rabies, the vaccination period is not less than 3 weeks before the flight and not more than a year.

For the comfort of other people on board, the dog must be clean, without a strong smell. She is taught to box in advance. Aggression, anxiety is not desirable.

Who cannot be transported

The following are not allowed to fly:

If the dog weighs over 50 kg, the owner should contact S7 Airlines. She specializes in transporting large animals, as well as animals living in the zoo and circus.

It should be borne in mind that pregnant bitches, puppies under 3 months old, pets over 10 years old and with severe chronic diseases, especially with pathologies of the heart, respiration, brain. The rest of the dogs can be transported on the plane without any problems.

Why may they not be allowed

The airline has the right to refuse to carry a dog if:

  • the owner did not inform the airline workers about the animal in advance;
  • the breed does not match the declared one;
  • no required documents;
  • the travel of the animal is not paid;
  • because of the pet, there are potential problems for company employees and passengers;
  • the container for the dog does not comply with the rules;

Another point is the suitability of the vessel for transporting animals. If the company does not have adequate aircraft or it is impossible to provide adequate ventilation and temperature control in the luggage compartment, it will not be possible to take a dog with you.

Differences between transporting dogs in the cabin and in the luggage compartment

Flying with a dog on board and in the luggage compartment is different. The differences concern, first of all, the size of the animal and its placement.

Aboard

Several small dogs can be transported in the cabin at the same time: 2 adults or 3 puppies. They must be in the same cage. It is important that the total weight with the container is up to 8 kg.

Passengers with pets are not allowed:

Usually the owner and the dog are seated in remote places. The container must be placed under the seat in front. The box is not allowed to stand in the aisle or the dog leaves it.

In the cargo hold

Large dogs weighing more than 8 kg are placed in the luggage compartment. Potentially dangerous dogs are also placed here - aggressive, guard or fighting breeds. The main rule: one dog - one container. Each of them is paid separately.

The pet crate is checked in as a non-standard baggage in a separate window. A special sticker with a barcode, information about the dog and the owner is glued to the container. After the box is fixed in a compartment with special trays.

Requirements for containers

All boxes, regardless of size, must be:

The box for transportation in the cabin must be no more than 115 cm in the sum of 3 dimensions. The minimum cage size for the luggage compartment is 155 cm.

Some carriers allow small dogs (up to 3 kg) to be carried as hand luggage. They are allowed to be placed in wicker baskets or bags for carrying dogs up to 135 cm in size.

The bottom of the carrier is covered with a bedding, and the top - with a moisture-absorbing diaper. The collar is put on the dog, and the leash is placed on the bottom of the cage.

Required documents

When transporting a dog in Russia and the CIS countries, 2 documents are required: a veterinary passport and a state certificate.

State veterinary certificate No. 1 is issued on the basis of a veterinary passport. Issued at the state veterinary station with the obligatory presence of an animal.

Contains the same information as the previous document, additionally enter data on the route and the results of the control examination. The form is valid up to 5 days.

Additionally, they may request a certificate of chipping.

Features of flights abroad

Transferring a dog to other countries is more problematic than transporting it across the territory of the Russian Federation. Each state has its own rules for import and export - information should be checked with the embassy.
For example, fighting breeds and young animals cannot be imported into a number of countries; additional vaccinations against diseases common there will be required to move to some countries. In all countries, quarantine is in effect - lasting from 2 weeks to six months. Moreover, the owner pays for the maintenance of the dog during this period.

There are also general rules for flying dogs abroad:

  • an international veterinary certificate is required;
  • the animal must not represent breeding value or belong to rare breeds - to take out such a dog, you will need permission from the canine service of Russia;
  • the dog must be microchipped;
  • a data sticker is placed on the luggage compartment. English language;
  • in addition to rabies vaccination, a month after vaccination and 12 weeks before departure, a blood test for the virus is carried out.

Special case - guide dogs and service animals

A separate category includes service dogs - guide dogs and those who are on the canine service in law enforcement agencies. This is the only dogs, which, regardless of size, can accompany the owner on the plane and not be in the box.
Guide dogs are privileged dogs. They fly for free if the owner provides a certificate of disability and a document confirming that the dog belongs to the service category. Dogs can move around unaccompanied by adults. It is enough that they stay with a child over 12 years old.

For pets employed in the canine service, a document confirming their special training is also needed. The owner is obliged to present a certificate that he is an employee of the executive authorities.

The rules for placing both categories of dogs are special. They are:

  • are carried on board before the passengers boarding;
  • must be muzzled and tied with a leash to the chair on which the owner sits;
  • are not in the aisles, near emergency exits, in the places of other travelers;
  • should not create dangerous situations, damage property, relieve natural needs.

Alone on the plane

When it is impossible to accompany the dog, it can be transported without an owner. Not all airlines provide such a service, therefore, it is necessary to check with each carrier separately.
The owner must inform about the situation in advance and draw up the necessary documents. They also include a power of attorney for a special employee whom the company will provide as an accompanying person.

The owner takes the dog to the airport on his own. Then he gives it to the manager and writes a statement indicating the size and weight of the dog (or several pets), the address of arrival, the dimensions of the carrier.

The cost of transporting dogs in various airlines

Transportation of dogs is paid as non-standard baggage - you do not need to buy a plane ticket for a dog. Prices are high and differ significantly in different companies, as well as depending on the direction of the flight, the size of the animal, and where it is located - in the cabin or in the luggage compartment.

How to prepare your dog for the flight and what to take with you

For a dog, a flight - severe stress... Therefore, it needs to be prepared.

First of all, the pet is taught to carry, if he is not yet familiar with it. It will be a plus if he has already traveled by car or train - the next trip will not be a big "surprise". It is advisable to just visit the airport several times with the dog and walk around the building so that he gets used to the situation.

Veterinary control before departure can take 30-40 minutes. Plus, it will take a significant amount of time to check documents, fill out forms, transfer the animal to the luggage department or take it to the salon. Therefore, you need to arrive at the airport 2 - 3 hours before departure.

For the flight to go smoothly, you must:

  • do not feed or water your pet 4 hours before boarding the plane;
  • walk the dog so that he goes to the toilet;
  • do not give food and water to animals on the plane - if the flight lasts more than 5 hours, you can drink it;
  • take a veterinary first-aid kit with you - consult a doctor about the necessary medications;
  • stock up on absorbent diapers and wet wipes.

The dog should not be given sedatives and sleeping pills. Of course, you want her to sleep on the plane, but sedatives reduce arterial pressure... Coupled with surges in atmospheric pressure, a flight for a pet can end in death.

To transport a dog on an airplane, you will have to pay a significant amount, suffer, collecting documents and choosing a suitable carrier, and then "bring to life" yourself and your pet.

But if you need to move, and leaving a friend is unthinkable, all the difficulties will seem insignificant.

Often pets accompany the owners on their travels. In order to transport your pet, you need to order not a separate ticket for him, but a special service called transporting an animal in the cabin or in the luggage compartment of an aircraft. Airplanes have all the possibilities for this, provided that the animals are in a special container or cage.

The ability to transport an animal on an airplane depends on the weight of the pet, airline rules and the rules for importing animals into the country of destination (for international flights).
In all cases, the service for transporting animals in the aircraft cabin or in the luggage compartment is paid, usually payment for excess baggage is made at the airport.

There are a number of pre-flight formalities and requirements related to border, customs, sanitary-quarantine, veterinary, quarantine phytosanitary types of control provided for by law Russian Federation that the passenger must fulfill at the transfer airport for further transportation along the route, as well as the requirements of state authorities at transfer points for international transportation. You can familiarize yourself with these requirements on the websites of official departments, as well as on the official website of the carrier airline.

How to fly with animals

Transporting animals on an aircraft is permitted by most airlines' regulations, but transportation requirements may vary. In addition, a limited number of animals can be transported on the plane. Therefore, try to contact the airline you are flying as early as possible in order to find out its terms and conditions and to book a seat in time.

Find out in advance at the veterinary service of the airport of departure what documents are needed to transport animals and birds.

It is allowed to carry a dog, cat or feathered friend on the plane. A dog or a cat on the plane must be in a container designed for this; the transport of birds is possible in a special cage. Other animals cannot travel with their owners or in their luggage, but they can be transported on a cargo plane.

To transport an animal, the passenger is obliged to provide a container, a cage of sufficient size with air access. Without a cage / container - transportation is strictly prohibited. The bottom of the container (cage) must be waterproof and covered with absorbent material. The animal must be able to stand up "full length" and turn around its axis. The lock must be secure.

The cost of transporting an animal depends on its weight. As a rule, pets travel in the hold of an aircraft. It is allowed to transport animals in the cabin of the aircraft, the mass of which, together with the container (cage), does not exceed 5-8 kg, with dimensions in the sum of three dimensions not exceeding 115 centimeters. Animals are accepted for carriage only when accompanied by adult passengers with the prior consent of the airline.

Transportation of large dogs

Transportation of large dogs (heavier than 5-8 kilograms) is carried out in the luggage compartment of the aircraft according to the same rules, but only the cage for the animal in this case should be more reliable and strong.

Please note that some airlines do not allow large dogs.

Traveling in Russia and the CIS

For traveling with animals within Russia, a veterinary certificate (Form No. 1) is usually sufficient, which is issued 3 days before the trip and is valid during these days. The certificate contains the name of the owner and the route of the trip, information about the animal, the vaccinations and tests he received.

To obtain a certificate, contact any state veterinary service with your animal and its veterinary passport.

Before check-in, animals go through mandatory control at the airport. For this you need a veterinary passport and a certificate (form number 1). After checking the documents, the certificate is stamped allowing travel, which the passenger shows at the check-in counter at the counter. The airport employee weighs the animal and directs the passenger to pay for the carriage at the ticket office. Only after passing all these procedures, the passenger is issued a boarding pass.

How to transport a dog on a plane - find out more on the website of the airline you are flying or in the Tutu.ru support service. To register this service, please leave a request more than 72 hours before departure, which must indicate the total weight of the animal together with the cage, the size of the cage length * width * height, the breed of the animal:

By phone 8-495-587-43-05 (be prepared to give the booking, ordering number or the phone number specified when placing the order);

By sending a letter to the mail [email protected] or with the indication of the booking number, order or phone number specified during the ordering process.

It will take the airlines 24 hours to respond. We will definitely inform you about the confirmation or refusal of this service.

You need to find out if the airline allows you to transport animals before buying a ticket.

On trips to foreign countries

To transport a dog, cat or bird abroad by plane, you need to prepare in advance and collect a huge amount of documents. The animal is to undergo research and examination, to be tested and vaccinated.

In addition, many countries establish special rules for the import of animals. For example, in some European countries, the import of fighting dogs is prohibited. Island states often prohibit the importation of animals altogether (Malta, Great Britain) or quarantine them. To avoid any trouble, inquire in advance about the laws of the country you are going to.

Preparing your pet for the flight

Stock up on drinking water - dehydration occurs faster in an airplane than on the ground.

▪ Feed your pet a light meal two hours before departure.

▪ Remember to walk the animal before leaving.

▪ Make sure your pet does not suffer from a lack of air in its container or cage.

▪ Do not try to calm the animal with medication.

Transportation of guide dogs

Carriage of a guide dog (guide dog) also requires special confirmation from the airline. A dog with a special training certificate can accompany the owner free of charge. During the flight, the dog on the plane must be muzzled and tied to the owner's seat at his feet.

In order to slowly go through all the formalities, arrive at the airport a few hours before departure.

When going on the road with a pet, owners should take into account the peculiarities of travel with them. Different types transport have their own limitations. When there are rules. When it comes to air travel, there are also many hurdles to consider and follow.

Rules for the carriage of animals on the plane

The need to deliver the animal by air saves time and effort, but requires preparation and consideration of the rules for this type of transportation. For animals, there are stricter rules and requirements that must be followed by their owners.

Special standards regulate:

  • airlines;
  • customs;
  • veterinary service;
  • agreements between countries.

Large-sized animals used for zoos and circuses are transported in a special aeronautical vessel. Such a transfer is offered by the company S7, which specializes in the delivery of animals.

Passenger vehicles have restrictions up to 150 kg. Business class, first class is also a limitation. Consider the features of the flight within the Russian Federation and beyond.

Across Russia

Depending on the place of transportation, there are 2 possible ways:

    In this case, it is necessary to ensure:

    • pet weight with container up to 8 kg;
    • type of animal - dog or cat;
    • number in the cabin - maximum 5;
    • the container must be spacious, the animal must be able to stand up, turn around (the total height, width and length must be no more than 115 - 125 cm). For carrying bag limit size 135 cm. This allows them to fit under the seat in the front. The material is also important, which must be waterproof and the bottom absorbent;
    • a first-aid kit, as the animal may become ill in flight, discomfort will arise. What to put in it, it is better to consult a veterinarian;
    • an opaque cage cover with an air window is being prepared for the birds. It is important to make a good lock that will prevent opening;
    • it is important to ensure the cleanliness of the pet, the cage, to teach them to move in cramped conditions from a young age;
    • it is forbidden to accommodate passengers with pets near the emergency exits of the Economy class behind a rigid partition, next to children, unless it is booked in advance and one family is traveling;
    • Guide dogs must have a muzzle and be near the owner during the flight.

    Important! You cannot feed the animal or take it out of the container during the flight.

  1. This part of the aircraft is given an advantage, because if a person with an allergy to animal dander is present in the cabin, the flight can aggravate his health condition for him. It is also important that only pets are allowed to be transported. Representatives from the non-domestic category are not allowed on board. General requirements such:

    • weight from 8 kg (suitable for transportation big dogs across Russia);
    • the presence of a container or cage with a size of 1.55 m in the sum of width, length, height. There should be enough space for the pet to turn around, stand up;
    • the material is selected durable, dense, moisture-proof, absorbent. A secure lock is provided outside;
    • one container is used for one animal.

    Check-in for a four-legged passenger takes place in a special window. You should be careful about filling out the papers, check the correspondence of all symbols.

    A sticker with a barcode is glued to the container to automatically identify the location of the baggage. To make the trip less stressful, the animal is housed in a specially designated compartment with a fixed base.

    Important! At the airport, the animal must undergo veterinary control before boarding, which takes time (up to 1 hour). For this reason, carriers may recommend passing it the day before departure in order to eliminate possible force majeure.

    Abroad

    There are many requirements for international flights, which depend on the laws of the host countries. The requirements are more extensive than for domestic flights. This also applies to documents.

    Let's consider the most popular questions, recalling that in each case, before traveling, you should clarify the information at the consulate.

    Restrictions and requirements for traveling with an animal abroad:

    1. Weight up to 32 kg (requirements for which weight are different for carriers).
    2. Availability of an international veterinary passport. It is issued instead of the Russian certificate confirming the health of the pet.
    3. Chipping. It prevents loss, is produced by implanting a capsule with a microchip under the skin, which has an individual number for reading by a scanner.
    4. When transporting a rare breed of dog abroad or a breeding breed, a permit from the canine service of Russia may be required.
    5. Rabies blood test after vaccination. Time interval: one month after vaccination, 60 days before the end of the vaccination period, 90 days before leaving the country.
    6. Rabies vaccination is given.

    It should be borne in mind that some countries do not allow entering their territory without being in quarantine. The holding time can be from 1 week to 6 months. This is necessary for the determination of the state of the beast, the absence of negative manifestations.

    Unaccompanied

    For independent travel of a pet, you should contact the airline in advance, draw up the necessary documents for their meeting and acceptance by company representatives.

    The owner must write an application for the transport of live cargo unaccompanied or call, indicating:

    • the mass of one or all, if the number of heads is several;
    • place of delivery;
    • cell parameters;
    • content marks.

    Live cargo is delivered to the airport independently and transferred to the manager together with the documents. After that, it is placed in the cargo or passenger compartment.

    Moving without an owner takes place under the control of a responsible person designated by the company. The cost of a ticket for an independent trip is more expensive than usual, but cheaper than paying for two tickets that include the owner's travel.

    What documents are needed

    The rules for the carriage of animals refer to the general rules for the carriage of passengers and their cargo. They are approved (paragraphs 25, 143)

    Immediately during check-in for the flight, the pet owner must present the following documents for him:

    1. Veterinary passport.
    2. F-1 veterinary certificate of vaccination and health status, confirming the possibility of transporting a healthy animal. The inspection must be dated no more than 5 days before departure. Such a certificate at the airport is changed to another - form No. 5 a and is valid for a day when leaving Russia and 3 months when departing to Russia. When transporting a puppy or a small cat across Russia, it is required to make luminescent diagnostics, treatment for fleas, worms.
    3. If the dog is a guide dog, the owner is obliged to present his certificate of disability and that the dog is trained.
    4. For service dogs, a document on the training of a service dog is required, and for an accompanying person - a certificate of an employee of the canine service of the executive power of the Russian Federation.
    5. Chipping document. This is a mandatory requirement for international flights.
    6. Customs Union certificate when sent to countries that are part of the union. It is valid for 5 days from the date of discharge until arrival at the destination.

    Different countries have their own peculiarities regarding the transportation of animals. It is recommended that you contact a representative of the embassy before the flight to clarify the details of a particular animal.

    Important! Only the owner bears full responsibility for the animal during the flight.

    The airline is not responsible for damage, illness, loss, or other accidents that occur to the animal during the flight, including transportation across the territory of other countries.

    Price

    For the transportation of animals, the calculation of the carriage of non-standard baggage is used. Guide dogs are allowed to ride without payment, accompanied by the owners, which is confirmed by documents.

    In determining how much the carriage costs, the direction of travel, weight, and space on board are taken into account. Let's consider some offers from different airlines.

    These reasons include:

    • not agreed transportation, not confirmed;
    • the breed does not match the one specified in the request;
    • there are no necessary documents, certificates;
    • payment for transportation has not been made;

    Travelers often want to take their pet or it happens that you need to transport an animal as a gift to a loved one. So can animals be transported on an airplane, and are there rules for transporting animals on an airplane?

    What animals can be transported on the plane

    The following animals can be transported on the plane:
    • pets (cats, dogs);
    • rodents (rats, Guinea pigs, squirrels, chinchillas, chipmunks, marmots, gophers, jerboas, etc.);
    • birds,
    • reptiles (snakes, turtles, iguanas, chameleons, lizard frogs, etc.);
    • exotic animals,
    • wild animals,
    • guide dogs,
    • dogs of the canine service.
    The carriage of an animal or birds is only possible for a passenger who is 18 years of age or older.

    Do I need to buy a ticket for an animal

    You don't need to buy an air ticket for an animal, you just need to order a special service, but no later than 1.5-3 days before departure.
    If you buy a ticket for Ticket Aero, then after purchasing the ticket,request for ordering the transportation of an animal can be done through our Support Service.
    When ordering a special service for the carriage of an animal on an airplane, you must provide information about the type, weight and size of the container along with your pet.

    It is imperative to obtain confirmation of the possibility of transporting the animal from the airline. Because the airline has the right to refuse to transport you an animal. This happens if several people have already ordered the service of transporting animals on this flight.

    2. Veterinary certificate (form No. 1)

    After checking these documents and the condition of the transported animal, a special boarding pass is issued (it must be presented at check-in for the flight), and the veterinary certificate is stamped.

    For traveling with a pet on international transport

    For international transportation, in addition to the above list, additional documents will be required:
    • Veterinary certificate. It is issued with a veterinary certificate and is registered at the border control point in the veterinary service for a period of 1 month.
    • Certificate of breeding value or its absence for the transported animal.
    • If it is necessary to transport certain types of animals, a special permit. It is issued by the RF State Committee for Environmental Protection.
    Please note that each country may impose additional requirements and restrictions. Therefore, in order to avoid misunderstandings at the airport and at the border, before importing an animal into the territory of another state, it is better to clarify the relevant information at its embassy.

    For example, countries such as Sweden, Denmark, Spain and Italy prohibit the importation of dogs belonging to a fighting breed into the territory of their states. And animals taken on a trip to Britain and Iceland must be quarantined for six months.

    • To ensure that your pet is not returned home, no later than 3 hours before departure, you need to be at the airport for veterinary control and registration of your pet for the flight;
    • Don't forget to get your veterinary check on arrival.
    • In the air, dehydration occurs much faster, so bring drinking water for the animal;
    • Feed the animal with light food a couple of hours before departure;
    • Take your pet for a walk before flying.

    Pets become our best friends and, quite often, become involved in the cycle of events in our life. When you have no one to leave your dog or cat with during your departure or travel, you have to take the animal with you.

    Most often, as a means of transport, we opt for airplanes. It takes less time and does not differ much in cost from traveling by train or car.

    Transporting animals on an airplane has many nuances, the omission of each of which can lead to the fact that your four-legged friend may not be taken on board. Each of the airlines has its own rules and requirements for the carriage of animals.

    In order not to get into an unpleasant situation, you need to carefully familiarize yourself with the main features of transporting cats and dogs in the air. So, can animals be transported on a plane?

    Animals are transported on a plane in different ways depending on their size, breed, species, airline choice, flight duration, and the purpose of their transportation. How do you transport a dog on an airplane?

    Before you start booking a plane ticket for yourself, be sure to call the airline and notify its employee that an animal will fly with you.

    As a rule, a certain number of either dogs or cats can fly in the same plane in the cabin. If the quotas have already been sorted out, you will have to choose another flight for yourself.

    As a general rule, indoor cats and dogs can be transported in the aircraft cabin, the weight of which with the carrier does not exceed 8 kg. Accordingly, if the weight is more than 8 kg, then the animal will have to be put into the luggage compartment.

    Birds and exotic animals are not allowed on all airlines. It is forbidden to transport aquarium fish both in the cabin and in the luggage compartment.

    It is prohibited to carry the following animals on the aircraft:

    For any flight, accompanying documents for a dog or cat are required... Depending on whether it is an international flight or Russian airlines, the package of documents will differ.

    Most often, they fly with animals within the same country and usually ask the question: how to transport a cat or dog on an airplane across Russia?

    In 2020, when transporting dogs and cats in Russia without changing their owner and not related to entrepreneurial activity, veterinary accompanying documents are no longer required.

    Unfortunately, some airlines may still ask you for a certificate from the veterinarian that the animal is healthy.

    In a dispute, try to refer to clause 16 of the "Veterinary rules for organizing work on the execution of veterinary accompanying documents", which were approved by the Ministry Agriculture Russia dated December 27, 2016 No. 589.

    If you are transporting an animal across Russia to exhibition events, you will need to provide a Form No. 1 veterinary certificate issued no earlier than three days before the flight.

    But nevertheless, some of the documents will be required from you. This is an international passport for a dog or cat... This document contains information about the dog, in particular, the name, brand, vaccinations and all kinds of marks about the treatment against ticks and fleas.

    If you are a responsible dog owner, then you know that once a year a dog needs two vaccinations: against rabies and viral infections.

    So, it is these vaccination marks that will be of interest to veterinary control staff at the airports of departure and arrival.

    The period of vaccination against rabies should be no more than a year and no less than one month.

    Transporting an animal by aircraft from one country to another is certainly more than difficult process than transportation across Russia.

    When traveling on an international flight, you need to contact the embassy or consulate of the country from which you are leaving and entering, to clarify the rules for transporting animals.

    As a rule, foreign airlines require the installation of a special chip on an animal, moreover, just before vaccination against rabies. Particularly stringent requirements for the import of animals are imposed by European countries.

    So, for example, in Germany you will be asked for a vaccination certificate in German and an international rabies certificate. And in hot Tunisia, a mandatory requirement is a vaccination mark against Carré's disease.

    What other documents are needed to transport an animal abroad? Sometimes airlines require a license to take the animal abroad.

    If the animal has a pedigree, its provision replaces the export license. This rule applies to the CIS countries.

    The owners of course want their shaggy friend to fly next to them. However, if the size of the animal is impressive or the dog belongs to fighting breeds, no matter how much you want, you will have to check it in.

    When traveling with a pet, you need to take into account the fact that not every passenger on an airplane loves dogs and cats.

    So, small children may be afraid of being close to a dog or even suffer from a strong allergy to animal hair. Therefore, you should be prepared for the fact that your pet may not be welcome on board.

    Transportation of an animal in the aircraft cabin is allowed only in a special carrier.

    The sum of the carrying dimensions should not exceed 125 cm, and the weight with the animal should not exceed 8 kg.

    Dimensions are based on the assumption that the dog or cat in the carrier will be under the seat in front of the aircraft, the height of which should allow the bag to fit under it without any special difficulties.

    So, if you are transporting an animal in a soft carrying bag, and not in a hard container, then a slight excess of dimensions is allowed. In this case, it is necessary to be able to press the roof of the carrier when installing it under the chair.

    It is prohibited to remove the animal from the carrier during the flight.... The bottom of the carrier must be lined with absorbent wipes or diapers to avoid unpleasant situations on board.

    In general, throughout the entire flight, you are entirely responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the aircraft and ensuring the normal condition of the animal.

    In some cases, a dog muzzle may be required... This applies to noisy and aggressive animals.

    Animals in the luggage compartment

    Large dogs travel in the hold. To do this, they are placed in special cages or containers. You purchase them yourself, as airlines do not provide transport containers for animals.

    Carrying cages should be adequate for the size of the dog and have ventilation grills or compartments to provide air. When transporting an unaccompanied animal, it is placed in the luggage compartment.

    In this case, the following documents are provided:

    • veterinary health certificate;
    • shipper's certificate;
    • for international transport, the permission of the countries of import, export or transit.

    Despite the fact that all comprehensive information about the transportation of animals of various airlines is contained on their official websites, you still have to call and clarify the special rules for transporting dogs on the plane by phone.

    On average, you need to notify the airline at least two days in advance that you are flying with a pet... If you do not, you will be denied transportation of your dog or cat at the airport.

    The main thing that managers warn about by phone is the cost of a dog ticket.... Travelers, however, are also most interested in how much a plane ticket for a dog or cat costs.

    The animal is considered excess baggage and is not included in the free baggage allowance... The prices for transportation of "our smaller brothers" in airlines vary greatly.

    You will have to pay for a ticket for a dog before departure at the airport itself. You will not be able to book it in advance on the Internet. Therefore, airlines recommend arriving at the airport with a pet in advance.

    Aeroflot is the oldest and most reliable airline in Russia. Compared to other airlines, Aeroflot charges a more impressive amount for the carriage of an animal.

    So, on domestic flights, when transporting one animal in the cabin or in the luggage compartment, you must pay an amount of 3750 rubles. On international flights, the cost is tied to the dollar exchange rate and is approximately 5500 rubles.

    Despite the recently introduced rules on the provision of only a veterinary passport for a dog, Aeroflot managers still require a veterinary certificate of Form No. 1.

    Yuteyr

    Uteyr is more supportive of traveling animals on board. So, the main requirement of the airline is only the timely delivery of rabies vaccination.

    The tariff grid for the transportation of dogs and cats to Russia is presented as follows:

    • in the cabin weighing up to 10 kg - 2500 rubles;
    • in the luggage compartment weighing up to 23 kg - 2500 rubles;
    • in the luggage compartment weighing from 23 to 32 kg - 5000 rubles;
    • in the luggage compartment weighing from 32 to 50 kg -7500 rubles.

    On international travel, the airline charges from 50 to 150 euros for the transport of an animal, depending on its size.

    S7

    An interesting feature in the S7 Airlines transportation rules is the ban on the transportation of puppies and kittens up to 8 weeks of age by aircraft due to possible dehydration of the animals.

    In Russia, the cost of transporting an animal in this airline will cost 2,000 rubles if an animal weighing less than 8 kg in the cabin or from 8 to 23 kg in the luggage compartment.

    Transportation of the same animal from Russia to Europe will cost you 70 euros, and to the CIS countries - 50 euros.

    Either way, traveling by air for your dog or cat will be a dangerous and frightening adventure. In order for your dog or cat to easily endure the flight and not cause problems to the rest of the passengers, you need to prepare him for the flight.

    In fact, traveling with a dog or cat by plane is not that difficult and dangerous process ... For an animal, the main thing is that the owner is next to him.

    Carefully follow all the requirements of airlines for the transportation of animals, and your trip will become an exciting adventure for you and your four-legged friend.
