We met Sabit in St. Petersburg (then Leningrad) in the mid-80s of the last century, which had gone forever, at a school where we studied in parallel classes. Even then, we were brought together by a passion for travel across the vast USSR, and every vacation, starting from the 8th grade, we definitely went to where it was very far from St. Petersburg and where it was deserted, wild and incredibly interesting. Later we united into a "strong group of travelers" from many Russian cities and when the borders were opened, we "switched" to the knowledge of the most lost and exotic countries of the entire planet Earth.

I graduated from the Art School and began to draw pictures, portraits of people on the Arbat, did various crafts, sculptures and, in fact, lived for this and did not grieve. But at the beginning of the 21st century, we found ourselves in a country that shook us, in Great Saudi Arabia. She somehow instantly conquered all of us and "took our hearts and souls" and we, already "seasoned travelers", have traveled almost all of it in almost three months. And even that was too little for us then, but who needs us here and what are we going to do?

And when the tickets to Russia were already in hand, there were no more than two weeks left before the departure home, we, lazily wandering around the beautiful city of Jeddah, found our first "pleasant surprise". Sabit suddenly saw in one "cool" jewelry store his own uncle that he "disappeared" back in the days of the USSR.

• As it turned out, Uncle Sabita has been living here for many years and is the owner of a whole network of all kinds of stores, from jewelry to grocery stores. And he achieved all this exclusively himself.


• We politely called him Farit Muslimovich. How else. After all, he looked so gorgeous that he looked more like a gray-haired modern duke of some Edinburgh. He immediately took us on his seven-meter snow-white "Maybach" to his home, which seemed to us a "home" that in beauty and grandeur would give one hundred points to Versailles himself, no less, here's a cross. This is me from myself, I'm a Christian, sort of.


• And, despite the fact that Uncle Sabit from scratch created an entire empire named after him in Saudi Arabia, he, Farit Muslimovich, in everyday life turned out to be a surprisingly simple, kind, sincere person. And with an incredible subtle, like the whole East, sense of humor.


• At first, having fed us "to the full" with delicious dishes, the most delicate aroma of which I still remember to this day, Farit Muslimovich, smoking a hookah, listened for a long time and attentively about everything that touched the life of Sabit and me. And what do you think, gentlemen, happened next? You will never guess, but once you find out, you will not believe it. And in vain.


• Learning that I am an artist and a sculptor, and Sabit is a wonderful cook, that for several years he worked for one elite restaurant in Moscow, Farit Muslimovich, who is infinitely respected by us, silently, quietly and calmly nodded, and it was time for sleep.


• Well, the next day, but in a jeep the size of a tram or trolleybus, he took us to one of the resorts on the Red Sea, which also belonged to him and was located near the town of El-Kunfid. What for? It was our "surprise-luck" under the sweet as Turkish delight, number two.


• In five seconds, he arranged an art workshop for me, which was engaged in the manufacture of all kinds of souvenirs, jewelry, all kinds of figurines, paintings from real desert sand, only painted in hundreds of the brightest colors and divine shades. Where I gradually became a real "oriental artist of miracles".


• Sabit became the chef of this resort. Both of us were provided with just an unrealistically beautiful villa to live in. A teacher of the Arabic language was "assigned" to us, and Farit Muslimovich entrusted the troubles with visas and other "official paperwork" to his assistant and he did everything to us so quickly that we now have permanent residence in Saudi Arabia for a long time, an excellent job in our specialty. And Saudi Arabia today is very similar to a grandiose construction site. And here people live and work from almost all parts of the world. And of course, from our native Russia in the same "honorable number".

For example, boys and girls from Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus work only at our resort. And no one is "offended." From animators and masseuses to guides and doctors of a hospital that was built especially for tourists. Obtaining Saudi Arabian citizenship is extremely difficult. Officially, it becomes available after five years of permanent residence in the Kingdom. Obtaining Saudi Arabian citizenship is also difficult because the applicant must score a certain number of points. For example, a foreign spouse of an Arabian must be married for five years in order to obtain citizenship, give birth to a child (as a result - 23 points). A male foreigner applying for Kingdom citizenship must score at least 23 points out of 33 possible. Compliance with the residency requirement for 10 years results in 10 points. The rest are related to the professional activity of the applicant. For example, a higher medical or engineering degree corresponds to 13 items. It turns out that, having lived for 10 years in Saudi Arabia and having the appropriate education, you can become its citizen. If the applicant for citizenship has a higher humanitarian education, then he will be credited with only 10 points. And he will not have enough "passing grade". But at the same time, those with a doctorate degree are awarded an additional 8 points, masters - 5 points.

The accrual system is very complex, it includes family ties with the citizens of the Kingdom, religion, knowledge of the Arabic language, and much more. We have given only a general understanding of this process.

In Saudi Arabia, dual citizenship is prohibited for everyone. At the same time, there is no state duty for obtaining Saudi citizenship.
