Brazilian street bars and shops offer a huge
a variety of fruit juices and cocktails - mango with acerola, pineapple, milk with bananas, oranges with guava.

EXOTIC FRUIT COCKTAIL

You will need 700 ml each of pineapple, banana and juice
passion fruit, as well as 100 ml of Grenadine liqueur.

COCKTAIL "CAIPERINHA"

This is the Brazilian national cocktail, its name means "little hillbilly". It is very important to use
whole lime and coarse sugar. It is necessary that the oils from the peel

CREOLE PUNCHE

Mix three parts rum and one part sugar syrup.

Serve with lemon slices and ice cubes.

In a glass with a capacity of about 8 ounces, dissolve 1/2 teaspoon of sugar and the juice of 1/2 lemon in a small amount of soda, add a few mint leaves and crushed stems.

Add a few ice cubes and 1.5 ounces of Hawaiian rum.
Top up with soda and garnish with a sprig of mint.

MILKSHAKE WITH BANANA

Peel the banana, cut it and put it in a deep container.
Add 1/2 liter of milk and sugar to taste.
Mix everything using a mixer.

Pour a bottle of beer, a bottle of “Iron brue” into the container,
a bottle of soda.
Stir, pour into glasses, add ice.

MONKEY'S TAIL COCKTAIL

Boil 2 liters of milk with sugar and seasonings. 4 tbsp. Dissolve spoons of coffee in a small amount of hot water and add to milk before removing from heat. Cool.
As soon as
the mixture will be cold, add 1/2 liter of aguardiente (can be replaced with a strong drink such as vodka), stir and strain.
Serve very chilled.
This cocktail is usually
prepared for the Christmas and New Year holidays, which in Brazil fall at the height of summer.

BRAZILIAN COCKTAIL

Mix 3 glasses of pisco (can be replaced with vodka), glass
vermouth, a glass of condensed milk, 3 glasses of orange
juice, ice and beat with a mixer.
Pour the cocktail into glasses,

COCKTAIL “PICHUNCHO”

Mix 1 glass of vermouth and 2 glasses of pisco (can be replaced with vodka) in a decanter, shake lightly.
Pour into glasses, adding a slice of lemon.

The whole world learned about the Caipirinha cocktail only in the last century, when Brazil became popular among tourists. Now the Caipirinha cocktail is no less popular than carnival, football and coffee. But the most interesting thing is that it was originally a drink of peasants and slaves.

A little history of the caipirinha

This is not to say that the taste of the caipirinha is too refined, but this cocktail is wonderfully refreshing and invigorating, no worse than Brazilian coffee. Most of all, it looks like a mojito, but there is no mint in it. The caipirinho was invented by slaves from the cane plantations owned by the Portuguese. This is how it always happens: alcohol is made from any available products, and everything that comes to hand is added to the cocktail. So Brazilian slaves learned to make moonshine (cachaça) from disgusting cane, fermenting its juice, and added available spices to the cocktail and kept lime in the cachaça. The cocktail was invigorating and refreshing. And the Europeans already added ice to this simple cocktail. That's all the caipirinha is.

Proportions and composition

The main component of the caipirinha cocktail is cachaça, that is, the same cane-based vodka.. The drink is too rare, so in the absence of cachaca, you can add vodka or rum. In the first case, we will get a Caipiroska cocktail, in the second, a Caipirissima, but essentially this is a daiquiri. The taste, by the way, is not much different from a real caipirinha. In any case, take 50 ml. drink But the vodka should be of the highest quality. And some people add gin, Campari, or even sake (!) to the caipirinha. Still, for accuracy of taste, try to find cachaça.

Cane sugar. By the way, even the Brazilians themselves often use the most common one. You need two teaspoons. Sugar syrup will also work, but you need about 10 ml. It is best to use the finest grind sugar.

Lime. It cannot be replaced with anything, but there is also a fruit variation of the caipirinha, to which strawberries, grapes, orange or even blackberries are added. A lime needs one half, and an orange – one or two slices. By the way, in Brazil this fruit is called lemon, but it cannot be replaced.

Ice. Here everything depends on your mood, but usually they recommend about 150 g. By the way, the Brazilians themselves like to violate all proportions and prepare a cocktail by eye. Perhaps they are right.

You will also need spices, a rocks glass, and a muddler. If the latter is not available, just a spoon will do. You will also need a cocktail spoon. For a large party, glasses can be replaced with a large container. You may also need a jigger and straws.

How to prepare a caipirinha

  • Let's start with the lime. Be sure to trim off the tops. Then divide into halves and place one half in each rocks glass.
  • Now add sugar or syrup and knead everything using a muddler. The sugar should be soaked into the lime. Or lime - sugar syrup. If there is no muddler, a rolling pin or just a spoon will do.
  • The glass is now filled with ice. Prick it first, or grind it in a blender.
  • All that remains is to add cachaça (or rum or vodka). Stir with a cocktail spoon.
  • Add spices, such as anise.
  • You can garnish the drink with the same slice of lime. Caipirinha is served with straws.

Caipirinha is a traditional Brazilian alcoholic cocktail, which, due to its ease of preparation and excellent, refreshing taste in the heat, has become most widespread in this South American country.

Essentially it is a sweet and sour alcoholic drink with an approximate strength of 23-26 degrees. It includes:

  • cane sugar;
  • lime;
  • crushed ice

It is quite difficult to absolutely accurately translate the word caipirinha into Russian. Translated from Portuguese, caipira means a villager, a simple person. The suffix inha (inha) is a diminutive. Judge for yourself what this really means. We will limit ourselves to the version that the caipirinha was nicknamed that way because of its general availability, cheapness and simplicity of the recipe.

Classic recipe

To prepare one serving of caipirinha cocktail you will need the following ingredients:

  • cachaca – 50 ml;
  • one ripe lime;
  • cane sugar - two teaspoons;
  • a few ice cubes to taste.

The correct sequence of actions when preparing.

Take a glass with a volume of 300-400 ml.

Cut the lime into 6-10 pieces and place in a glass.

Cover the citrus slices with cane sugar.

Gently crush the lime with a muddler (or something else, like a spoon) to release plenty of juice and dissolve the sugar.

Place ice cubes in a glass. If desired, you can pre-prick it. This is not important.

Pour in 50 ml of cachaca and mix thoroughly.

For a beautiful presentation, you can garnish the glass with a slice of lime.

Please note that in order for the caipirinha to turn out authentic (like the Brazilians), it is necessary to use cachaça in the preparation.

However, if you don't have that kind of Brazilian flair, don't fret. You can slightly modify the cocktail recipe and use rum or vodka as the alcohol-containing component. Of course, this will change the taste of the caipirinha a little, but you will enjoy it.

Moreover, the Brazilians themselves have long conducted similar experiments and even came up with names for such drinks. The shake with vodka is called caipirissima, and with vodka it is called capivodka or kapiroska.

Direction for creativity

Attentive readers, of course, noticed that the strength of the caipirinha, which we indicated above, was approximate. The thing is that the Brazilians themselves prepare their favorite drink by eye. There are simply no exact proportions.

You can also change the recipe and experiment with ingredients. We have already written about how you can replace cachaca. Now let's figure out what you can use instead of lime.

Caipirinha should be sweet and sour. Sugar will add sweetness, but the fruit component is responsible for the sourness. As an option, we suggest trying making a caipirinha with strawberries, oranges, pomelo or blackberries.

We can also make this shake less sweet. Try making a caipirinha with one spoon of cane sugar. The taste will change significantly.

Preparing the Caipirinha cocktail

The Caipirinha cocktail (port. Caipirinha) is a Brazilian national drink, which today has gained popularity in many countries around the world. Translated, the name means something like “simple girl”, “village woman”, “peasanka”.

The main component of this drink is cachaça, a high-alcohol distillate from sugar cane. In addition to cachaca, the classic caipirinha includes ice, lime and cane sugar. Any replacement deprives the caipirinha of the right to be called just a caipirinha and gives rise to cocktails with other names. But variations in the preparation of a drink from these components may indicate in which country the cocktail was prepared.

I will prepare the caipirinha according to the rules of the German school (as they say, “I won’t tell you for all of Europe, all of Europe is very large”), but along the way I will explain how to give it a more Brazilian or American look.

The ingredients for a caipirinha are a topic both simple and complex. There are, in essence, only 4 of them, and there can only be 4, no more, no less. But!!!... The big “but” of this “countryside” cocktail is that the most “correct” cachaca for it is farm-made, not factory-made. It is smellier, but for obvious reasons it is produced in small batches and almost never reaches the borders of Brazil. This gives rise to the first difference in caipirinhas in different countries: in Brazil the cocktail is made with white cane sugar, but in places where homemade sugar-cane moonshine is not available, brown is used to borrow the desired note from it. In general, sugar must be cane sugar, and white or brown - depending on what kind of cachaça you have.

It's just that brown sugar from sugar beets is not suitable: the point of a caipirinha is precisely the intense sugar cane flavor. Let the Brazilian peasants earn an extra centavo, in short! Another variable component is ice. In Brazil, normal ice cubes are used, like those sold in stores or frozen in containers. In Germany, crushed ice is used (not to be confused with crushed ice). I’ll explain why in step 5. Well, let’s say about lime – ideally, under a caipirinha you need an unsprayed one, but where can you get it?..

For the Brazilian version this step is not necessary. Brazilians simply use block ice, which melts slowly and stays cold for a long time. But the Germans believe that the lump version does not melt, and it turns out almost pure cachaça with a drop of lime juice. Crushed ice, on the contrary, melts too quickly. In general, you need something in between. Therefore, for this recipe, block ice is crushed. In my opinion, the easiest home way to do this is to pour the cubes into a large thick bag, tie it with a second layer around itself - and hit the ice with all your might 3-5 times on some very strong and hard surface.

Cocktail history:

The Caipirinha was originally created by slaves and for slaves - its past is not elitist. Who exactly created it is unknown. What is clear is that the simple recipe was cobbled together from what was available – fermented cane juice, a couple of wedges of lime growing at every step, well, that’s all. Sugar from cane was introduced into the composition later - at the beginning of the 20th century, when cachaça (40-proof alcohol from distilled fermented cane juice) appeared in the United States and European cities, and tourists flocked to Brazil. The beaches of the sunny country greeted them with the coolness that the Caipirinha gave. Gradually, the cocktail began to leave Brazil, migrating to bars in other countries, while taking the cachaça necessary for it (they say that its taste is better than that of rum).

Types and varieties:

Variations of the cocktail appeared due to problems with the main component - cachaca. But resourceful Europeans quickly found an alternative replacement. And this is what happened:

  • "Caipirissima"— where cachaça was replaced by rum (which, however, is not original, since the popular Daiquiri has the same composition)
  • "Kaipiroska"— where cachaça was replaced by vodka (by the way, if you are not a gourmet, you won’t feel the difference)

Further substitutions occur at the fruit level. So, “Caipirinha” can be not only with lime. It is successfully replaced by lemon, orange, strawberries, grapes, etc. Ladies like these options more - they are softer and sweeter.

Analogues of the drink are prepared according to the same recipe, without changing the classic proportions. In the latest versions, ice is added to the cocktail, which has a very positive effect on its taste.

By the way, if you prefer other types of strong alcohol (for example, gin), then do not hesitate - adapt the recipe to your tastes and enjoy the result!

Effect on the body: refreshes, invigorates. Thanks to the quinine in Caipirinha, it is believed that it repels mosquitoes and protects against malaria.

How to cook and drink correctly:

“Caipirinha” refers to “long drinks” or “madelas”, so to serve it you will need a decent glass of at least 350-400 ml. Old-fashioned or rocks glasses will suit you just fine. They drink the cocktail through a straw, traditional for long drinks, slowly sipping and savoring the taste.

Note:

A good Caipirinha will become even better if you use a few tricks in the preparation process.

  1. When slicing a lime (lemon or orange), remove all the white stripes from the slices. This will make the drink less bitter.
  2. Use only cane sugar (it doesn’t matter brown or white) and add it before crushing the fruit. This will give an extra portion of juice. But if you use lime, do not crush the fruit mercilessly. When pureed, it will add acidity to the cocktail.

Caipirinha

The recipe you are about to see is a classic one. Plus, in brackets, we have indicated for you options that you can replace the main component in the composition with. Thus, using one recipe, you can vary the tastes of the cocktail and come from the products that you have at home.

Prepare:

  • cachaças (rum, vodka, gin) – 50 ml
  • lime (lemon, orange, strawberry) – ½ fruit (4-5 berries)
  • cane sugar – 2 teaspoons
  • a handful - two crushed ice

You need to prepare it like this:

  1. Cut half a lime into 4 pieces and place in a glass.
  2. Add sugar and lightly crush together with the fruit.
  3. Fill with ice (to the edge of the glass) and pour in alcohol.
  4. Stir, decorate, serve with a straw.


If you want to get a richer taste, cut into small pieces not half of the fruit, but the whole fruit.

Sometimes, for piquancy, the Caipirinha is supplemented with pieces of small cucumber - the latest invention of bartenders.
